RACK (Risk, Aware, Consensual, Kink)

So in the kink world, we have several acronyms and some of them are below now I know, these are just a few & there more out there. We use some of these as part of our negotiation processes before partaking in the scenes that we do with others.

SSC

  • Safe
  • Sane
  • Consensual

RACK

  • Risk
  • Aware
  • Consensual
  • Kink

PRICK

  • Personal
  • Responsible
  • Informed
  • Consensual
  • Kink

FRIES Consent model

  • Freely given
  • Reversible
  • Informed
  • Enthusiastic
  • Specific

The one that I use when negotiating is RACK.

The reason for this is that a lot of the stuff I do involves blood/sharps. There is a lot of risks that can happen ie needle stick injuries (if the bottom has an infectious disease & doesn’t disclose it, it can be an agonising wait for test results to come back), someone may not pass out when blood is taken but may pass out during play, etc. so before I play with someone I ask a lot of questions to try to a: mitigate certain risks & b: if there are risks, is it worth pursuing the play ie is the risk worth the biscuit.

So we manage RACK in the scene but do we do this IRL? For example if you play & do sharps like myself, do you disclose this to professionals under the guise of having piercings done to the lovely folk down at the blood bank. Yes, the needles are single-use & are disposed of once they are removed from your skin.

Hooks/skewers/wire etc can be, they also can be autoclaved but one cannot trust the integrity of the autoclave in question. We can never have the same sterility as a hospital but we can try to replicate it by being as safety conscious as we can. I’m saying this because even though we are consenting to have these fun things done to us or doing the fun things to others, we accept or mitigate those risks.

The blood bank or the recipients of our beautiful red fluids don’t. I’m aware that they test the blood before passing it onto someone, so don’t come for me at the comments. You don’t have to disclose what you do, you just need to explain that you have had a temporary piercing for cosplay/larping whatever you choose to say to them. Just be honest, save the hassle of a phone call from them explaining that ‘oh sorry, your blood came back with x and unfortunately you cannot donate’.

I say this because it happened to a very close friend of mine.
