Bruising – Helping them heal by LordOmy
LordOmy writes, this is not a be all end all nor am I a doctor..what I post is from experience. Your results might vary. Some people like their bruises and don’t want to do anything..others want to heal them quickly..so they can get more sooner..lol
Bruising is caused from impact onto the skin..flogging, paddles, canes, etc. Blood vessels in the skin break as they are hit and bleed into the surrounding tissue. The marks appear dark red, black, and blue.
Some bruising will appear immediately and some may take a day or two to show up.
Ways to promote healing from Bruising:
- Apply ice to the area. Ice chips in a zip lock..flexible gel packs..bag of frozen peas. The ice helps reduce any inflammation.
- Apply Arnica Gel 2-4 times a day. This you can pick up from the pharmacist counter. It won’t be on the shelf..and not all pharmacies carry Arnica Gel. 4 times a day and the healing time is cut in half.
- Massage the area starting the day after a couple times a day
- Flushing the area. Flushing is helpful after a few days..when the bruise is starting to heal….it flushes the new area with fresh blood to promote healing. Apply heat for 15 minutes. Then apply ice for 10 min. Then apply heat for 15 min.
- Massage is another way to increase blood flow once the healing process has begun.
If you feel a lot of pressure in the vicinity of the bruise or develop a fever, then seek immediate medical attention.
